Answering questions about my webcomic Magical Angel (Even if nobody asked anything)
Magical Angel

Hi! This is my first post here and I wanted to dedicate it to my ongoing webcomic 'Magical Angel', answering some questions (which I think nobody has had yet but I'll answer anyway cause I like to talk) Okay, so let's go!

What is Magical Angel?

Mahou Shounen Magical Angel (or just Magical Angel) is my webcomic and my first attempt at the manga style. I publish it in Portuguese on the Tapas platform and also in English on the Webtoon platform. So far it has 3 chapters (one of them still in progress), but my goal is for it to have 13 chapters.

What is about?

Is about a boy named John Andersen Jung, who receives the mission of transform into a magical boy and save the world from a evil deity who want to destroy it, John need to stop the evil god from obtaining seven fragments of a magical artifact, because if he succeeds, he will become strong enough to destroy the world.

What is the origin of the idea?

Since I was a child, some ideas have evolved into the final concept for Magical Angel. For example, since 2018, I've been thinking about including cosmic combat, cursed necklaces, magical creatures that guide the protagonist, and also a lot of romance.

When I was a teenager in 2021-2022, I had ideas that were closer to what the project is today. The story at that time was full of dark theological symbolism, but there were still commonalities with the current version. Here, the protagonist is finally given the name John, although his personality was slightly different from the final version.

What works influenced Magical Angel?

Many, but I think specifically speaking: Princess Tutu, Miraculous Ladybug, Madoka Magica and DN Angel.

Why did you decide to make a webcomic about a magical boy?

Firstly because I love the magical girl genre, and secondly because I think there are few works that work with the concept of a magical boy without parodying the theme into comedy. At most, the works I've seen that follows the idea of a magical boy and traits it in a serious way was DN Angel and some magical girl works that included magical boys as well. Anyway, I think this is a variation that should be explored more and not just parodied, it's interesting because it puts boys in a traditionally feminine role and ends up subverting gender roles by saying that a boy can also be emotional, delicate and wear extravagant clothes.

Conclusion

So, that's it, and I thank those who read this far and I would also appreciate it even more if you read the webcomic on the platforms where it is available, on the 'Webcomics' page the links for it are available and you can click on the one that corresponds to your language. Thanks again!
